Town Departments

The following is a directory of town departments, listed in alphabetical order, each accompanied by a brief overview and a link to their webpage for additional information.

Assessor Department

The Assessor’s Office is responsible for placing an equitable value on each parcel located in Van Buren.

Builds & Grounds Department

This department is responsible for performing maintenance and in-house repairs to town managed properties.

Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement office supports the Planning, Zoning, and Codes Enforcement functions of the Town of Van Buren.

Comptroller Department

The Comptroller’s Department is responsible for a wide range of financial and administrative functions for the town.

Town Engineer

The Town Engineer supports departments and residents with civil engineering matters and oversees stormwater and landfill monitoring and reporting.

Fire Districts

The Town of Van Buren is served by the Lakeside, North West (Baldwinsville/Lysander), and Warners/Memphis Fire Districts.

Highway Department

Responsible for maintaining all town-owned roadways in safe and reliable condition for residents and visitors.

Justice Court

The Justice Court handles criminal and civil court matters.

Parks & Recreation Dept.

Sewer - WEP

The sewers are managed by the Onondaga County Department of Water Environment Protection (WEP).

Stormwater Department

The Town of Van Buren is a regulated MS4 under NYSDEC’s stormwater program, the Code Enforcement Officer is the main contact.

Town Supervisor

The Town Supervisor oversees daily operations, manages the budget, and represents the community's interests.

Town Clerk

The Town Clerk is a licensing agent as well as custodian of all Town records. They also process passport applications.

Town Historian

The Town Historian preserves and promotes the history of the town by maintaining historical records.

Veteran Outreach

Baldwinsville Veteran Outreach is here to provide information to resources and events for U.S. Military Veterans who live in the towns of Van Buren and Lysander.

Water - OCWA

OCWA (Onondaga County Water Authority) is responsible for providing safe, reliable drinking water to town residents and maintaining the public water supply system.
